Poetry Corner: Sonnet (I’m On It)

Transport

I watched you as you daydreamed on the train
Your slender fingers resting by your chin
And wondered if your mind was growing warm
Imagining forbidden touch of skin

Unconsciously you chewed your lower lip
And gently rode the car’s hypnotic sway
A rush of blood bloomed scarlet in your cheek
Your eyes met mine, grew wide, then looked away

Were your thoughts, too, descending to the place
Of sweat-soaked fabric, fumbling of clasps
Of torrid coupling in some darkened room
Of passion-scented breath in short, hot gasps?

Your stop arrived; you left me there alone
With lust-enchanted daydreams of my own.
